Organic Week Interviews: In the Marketplace – Ekk Pfenning

Interview with Ekk Pfenning.

Q: What is the best thing that’s happened to the marketplace since the family started farming organically in Canada in 1981?

A: There is far greater demand for organics now than there was back then.  It used to be for a very niche market – now organics are everywhere.  This has meant that our business has been able to grow and evolve in ways we couldn’t have anticipated – all while keeping our core values intact.  This has led to us working with some pretty amazing people, both co-workers and customers!

Q: What is the most important thing you want people to know about organic?

A: That organics considers the big picture.  The environmental impact, the effect of our practices on future generations, as well as the impact on our own health.  How we live and what we eat matters.
