This year on July 28th Terry Fox would have turned 57 years old. However, due to osteosarcoma, a form of cancer that originates in the bones, he passed away June 28, 1981 just a month before his 23rd birthday.
Before his death, Terry was able to raise money, and awareness of cancer to Canadians from coast to coast. He did this by attempting to run across Canada, starting in St. John’s, Newfoundland. To commemorate his run, the Terry Fox Foundation holds community runs every September. To date there has been over $600 million raised in his name, and the tradition continues this year as we celebrate the 35th Annual Terry Fox Run!
This year Pfenning’s is entering a team and on September 20th we are running, rollerblading and biking the 9km route around New Hamburg, Ontario. If you would like to sponsor our team please click here!
