Organic Week Interviews: Integrity – Ekk Pfenning

Interview with Ekk Pfenning.

Q: Why is certification important, and how has having Canadian Organic standards changed things for the farm business?

A: It has made a big difference for us because it has levelled the playing field, so to speak.  To be certified organic, every grower/producer has to adhere to the same, consistent set of rules.  Anyone can say they are organic; certification guarantees it.  This gives the consumer confidence in us, the grower, and also in the products that are certified.  That certification is our seal of integrity.

By the way, we are inspected a LOT.
